JA | p+a was founded by Janelle Alexander, a former investment banker, entrepreneur, and impact investor. Before JA | p+a, Janelle's most recent role was serving as Managing Director and Portfolio Manager of Impact Investments and Special Situations at an Atlanta-based investment firm. Prior to this Janelle was an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at a New Orleans-based startup accelerator, and was engaged in seed and follow-on investments for its affiliated private venture fund. She founded hedge fund platform Alprion Capital Management LP and later launched its affiliate, Trident Municipal Research. Janelle began her career as an investment banking analyst at Salomon Smith Barney (Citi).
Janelle spent the bulk of her career as a Vice President in investment banking at Goldman, Sachs & Co. where she structured over $15 billion in debt, derivative and public-private partnership transactions for issuers of municipal bonds.
She graduated with Distinction with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Spanish from Amherst College.
